B.Arch Thesis : Bigger Things in The Valley


Bordering on obsolescence, the LADWP is contemplating what comes next for the water reclamation plant that lies in the Sepulveda Basin. Rather than idealizing an agrarian past, I am proposing a work that comes to rest over the facility and one that participates in the vastness of the San Fernando Valley as its defining context.

High rise buildings have the tendency to obstruct views and hold a very exclusive, heavy presence. Andy and I wanted to create a high rise that includes the surroundings as well as pedestrians and drivers frequenting the PCH. How can a building be experiential and inclusive without ever entering it?
